Community Forums coming your way!

In April 2017, Norwalk City Council established community meetings to give residents an opportunity to be heard in their "own backyards," at easily accessible neighborhood locations.  As part of the city's effort to strengthen community connections, these meetings were offered each quarter to provide an open forum for the people of Norwalk to share concerns, questions and comments.


The Community Forums are special City Council meetings open to the public, with a more relaxed format than regular meetings.  To make it more convenient for residents to attend, each meeting is held at a different area of Norwalk.

Community Forum - St John of God

The first Community Forum was held on May 9 at New River Elementary School. The second meeting in the series took place on August 22 at Sanchez Elementary School, with the third at Moffitt Elementary on November 14 and the fourth at Lakeland Elementary School on February 27.

The City continues to engage the public through these town hall style meetings. The next event is scheduled for Thursday, June 21 at 6 p.m. at St. John of God Hall. Registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served, and translation services will be available for our Spanish speaking residents. View our event flyer here.

Open Mic Night

Singers, dancers, poets, comedians, and musicians join us for an evening of entertainment!  Participants will perform up to two selections or a total time of seven minutes. All types of music is welcome. Lyrics need to be appropriate for all ages. Profane words or messages of hate will not be permitted.  Performers are encouraged to arrive early to sign up for a spot. A microphone, microphone stand, speakers, and an iPod connector will be available.  Participants should bring all other equipment needed for their performance.  Invite your family and friends to enjoy a fun night of free entertainment!  For more information, please call (562) 929-5521.
