General Information

Norwalk Transit System (NTS) has been operating fixed-route and paratransit service in Los Angeles County since 1974. Our fixed route operation serves an area, which includes the City of Norwalk and portions of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, La Mirada, Santa Fe Springs, La Habra, Whittier and Unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Norwalk Transit's paratransit advance reservation Dial-A-Ride service operates within the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Norwalk.

Also,NTS provides paratransit user-side subsidy taxi voucher service for weekday inter-jurisdictional service and late evening service within the City of Norwalk.

NTS provides bus service between the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs Metrolink Station and the Metro Green Line Studebaker station in Norwalk. This service provides direct interconnectivity between rail stations (Metrolink and Metro Green line light rail). Metrolink (commuter rail service between Orange County and Los Angeles) provides weekday train service to the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs Transportation Center.

Description of Activities

The Norwalk Transit System (NTS) provides fixed route and Dial-A-Ride service to Norwalk and surrounding communities. Currently, the fixed route service consists of six (6) routes serving nearly 6,290 passengers each weekday from Norwalk and adjacent communities of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, La Habra, La Mirada, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte, Whittier, and unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. The NTS Route 4 rail feeder shuttle service provides a direct connection between the Norwalk Santa Fe Springs Transportation Center (Metrolink Commuter Rail Station) and the Metro Green Line Studebaker/I-605 Station (Light Rail). The NTS Route 7 provides a direct connection between the El Monte Bus Station and the Metro Green Line Station.  Span of service for weekday fixed-route service operates between 4:10 a.m. and 10:45 p.m. Weekend service is provided between 6:45 a.m. to 6:59 p.m. 

NTS's demand-responsive, advance reservation, Dial-a-Ride serves over 800 passengers a month and is available for persons with disabilities and senior citizens (60 years of age and older) from 7:00 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends. Weekday interjurisdictional trips to regional medical facilities are provided via TaxiCard service (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.).
