Nominate a Norwalk senior for who is dedicated to helping others for special recognition.

Every May, the Administration on Aging, part of the Administration for Community Living, leads our nation’s observance of Older American’s Month. We are pleased to announce the 2020 theme, "Make Your Mark," which emphasizes that you are never too old (or too young) to take part in activities that can enrich your physical, mental and emotional well-being and celebrates the many ways older adults make a difference in our communities.

Each year, the Los Angeles County Commission for OSenior Volunteerslder Adults (LACCOA) recognizes a deserving Norwalk resident for his or her contributions to the community. The City is currently seeking nominations for Outstanding Older American.  The nominee must be 65 years of age or older, a Norwalk resident, and must demonstrate their outstanding service through volunteerism*. This is a distinct opportunity for the LACCOA to acknowledge an older American who has enhanced the lives of others or the community at large.

*Volunteer services performed at hospitals, schools, libraries, in municipal programs or through any non-profit organization all qualify.

2. Pick up an application at any City facility.
3. Print and fill out thepdf application.

Deadline for submitting applications: Friday, March 6, 2020 by noon.  Hard copy applications must be returned to the Norwalk Senior Center, located at 14040 San Antonio Drive in Norwalk.
