The Hometown Hero Banner Program is temporarily being suspended. Applications submitted will be maintained on file.
The City of Norwalk is honored to be home to men and women serving our country. If you are 1) on active duty or are an active reservist currently serving in any of the five branches of the United States Armed Forces, and 2) a Norwalk resident or immediate family of a Norwalk resident, a personalized banner will be created and displayed along the Imperial Highway corridor to recognize your service and daily sacrifices in the name of freedom. Applications are available:
- in person at any City facility
- printable online on this page, to be mailed or submitted in person
- online at the bottom of this page for convenient and quick processing
Honorees will also be featured on the City's website, in the "Norwalk Now" newsletter, on our government access channel and at City Hall. We request a quality photo of the service person in uniform for this purpose. The photo will be returned to family.
Recognition banners will be removed from display after one year and presented to each honoree or his or her family (in the case of honoree's absence due to service) by Norwalk City Council at a regular meeting. All presentations are broadcast and recorded, as well as photographed for City archives.
